Christ Presbyterian Family & All Others:

On October 23rd the Session was made aware of the arrest of Senior Pastor, Jeremy Fair for soliciting a prostitute and we immediately met and placed Jeremy on indefinite leave. On Saturday, November 8th, the Hills and Plains Presbytery (our regional body of fellow PCA church leadership) met to hear Jeremy’s confession of his sin, to pray for him, his family, and our church body. At that meeting he was deposed of his credentials as a licensed and ordained minister in the PCA, as well as suspended from table fellowship for an undetermined amount of time. He was assigned a care team to aid him in his ongoing repentance process and help him with accountability and discipleship structures and relationships. In light of the Hills and Plains Presbytery’s decision, the Session (church leadership) of CPC voted to dissolve Jeremy Fair’s call to ministry at CPC and his employment effective as of November 8th.

Our church leadership has been meeting regularly to assess where we’ve been and what we’ve done, as well as begin to piece things together and plan and pray about the best path forward. There will be ongoing conversations and research to further determine and evaluate the facts of his case and how best to move forward as a church.

We are continuing to provide care and comfort to his wife and their family through relationships, benevolence, and meals delivered. Kimbo and the kids are welcome here and beloved, but there are many difficulties they are navigating as they consider where to worship in the long run. Please continue in prayer and support for the Fair family.

We are shocked and broken. Like many of you, casting our sorrow, anger and grief on the Lord. This threatens the beautiful spirit of unity that abounds in our congregation. For many of us, it will cause us to challenge the trust we have in Christ’s church. May we turn our hope to the Lord, our shelter and strong tower. Who is the same yesterday, today and forever. He will bring us through as a church on the other side.

For the immediate future, Jason Bobo will be assuming preaching, leadership, and pastoral duties. To enrich the body of CPC with the gospel of Christ’s resurrection, and to provide space for rest in Jason’s responsibilities, we have asked him to find friends and fellow ministers to cover a couple sermons each month for the foreseeable future.

Continue to pray for the Lord’s direction and wisdom over the upcoming days and months. We serve a God of restoration. It is our great hope that Jeremy will fall on Jesus in his brokenness and seek repentance. He will need to lean on the Lord as he faces the consequences of his actions. It is also our great hope that the Lord will continue to drive us to Him as a congregation through this time of great trouble.

Thank You,

The Session of Christ Presbyterian Church
